June Favourites | 5 Hits + 1 Miss

Junes Favourites: 5 Hits + 1 Miss | Swatching Oddity

My June Favourites

I thought I’d wrap up my final post of this month with my favourites for the month of June. I also thought I’d sneak in one of my not-so favourite items into my list as well. Before you begin reading, do you think you can guess what my June “miss” is?

The Hits

1. Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Bright Blue

If you’ve been reading my blog from the beginning, you’ll already know that I love the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal eyeliners (click here to read my review). I love these eyeliners so much, that I needed to try it out in other colours. Bright Blue was a colour that I had my eyes on, but I was never able to track it down in Canada… in fact, I’m not even sure if that shade is available here! I saw it on the Rimmel website, so it’s always caught my attention.

Would You Rather TAG! – Beauty Edition | Swatching Oddity

Would You Rather TAG Beauty Edition

I was tagged by MissRubyWoo to do the Would You Rather Tag (thank you for the tag!) The questions are:

1.) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
2.) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
3.) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
4.) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
5.) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
6.) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
7.) Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?
8.) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
9.) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
10.) Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or your favourite eye product?
11.) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
12.) Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
13.) Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
14.) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

Let’s begin!

1.) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

I would rather lose all of my palettes and eyeshadows. Oh, the thought of it pains me, but that’s what I would choose. I think my love for lipsticks and eyeliners are a lot bigger than my love for eyeshadows. Continue reading →

Review | imPRESS Press-On Manicure By Broadway

imPRESS Press-On Manicure By Broadway impress-press-on-manicure-nails

The world of artificial nails is quite foreign to me, so I was reluctant to try the imPRESS Press-On Manicure nails by Broadway. Although I don’t wear nail polish quite often, I have quite a large collection of it. However, my collection of artificial nails is well, um, non-existent.

The Process

Each set comes with a variety of different sizes to fit your nail shape. This is great because you are not restricted to a certain size. However, I have very tiny nails and for that reason, I had a really difficult time finding a size that would fit me. I settled for the smallest nails that were available in the set, but they still felt too big for me.

Summer Makeup Bases | Protect Your Face From The Sun

Summer Makeup Bases SPF Shiseido Smashbox Nars

The bright sun has finally cast its presence upon us in Toronto! With the sun at full force, SPF is a key ingredient to look out for in your summer makeup bases, like moisturizers, foundations and powders. In the warmer months, I opt for a BB Cream versus a foundation for a lighter coverage. I also like to crank up the SPF in my moisturizer for more protection.

A Mask For Glowing Skin: Lush Brazened Honey | Review

WARNING: If you are a Lush Fresh Face Mask noob, Brazened Honey may not be the best one to try first. This is probably Lush’s most “controversial” face mask because it is either a hit or a miss with most people — you either love it or you hate it. And I happen to be one of those people who love it.

Lip Product Addict TAG! | Swatching Oddity

Lip Product Addict TAG! | Swatching Oddity

The Lip Product Addict Tag has been floating around YouTube, but since I don’t make videos, I thought I would blog the tag instead. I wasn’t tagged by anyone in particular (#ihavenofriends), but Petite Pear Style tagged everyone, so that counts, right? D:

The Questions

  1. Favourite balm/treatment?
  2. Best eye-catching red?
  3. Best luxury & best drugstore?
  4. Best MAC lipstick?
  5. The most disappointing?
  6. Liner – yes or no?
  7. Best gloss?
  8. Something extra!

Onwards To The Tag!

1. Favourite balm/treatment?

I’ve tried tons of balm treatments, but the one that I’ve found to be the most effective is Burt’s Bees (my favourite is the Mango!) I used to think that was overpriced, but when I started getting more into makeup, I realized that there’s products like Dior Creme De Rose that don’t even come close (I’ve never tried the Dior product, but I’ve only heard good things!)

Review | Inglot Eyeshadows: How Do They Compare To Makeup Geek & MAC?

Inglot Eyeshadow Review

My Inglot Freedom System Eyeshadow Palette

In my previous post, I reviewed Makeup Geek eyeshadows and I mentioned that I didn’t feel like they were on the same level as Inglot in terms of pigmentation. Inglot eyeshadows are highly pigmented! In terms of quality and bang-for-your-buck, they are some of my favourite brand of eyeshadows.

How Do Inglot Eyeshadows Compare To Makeup Geek and MAC?

I really wanted to highlight the bang-for-your-buck factor in a simple way, so please refer to the chart below. :)

Brand Price (CAD) Weight Unit Cost
Inglot $8.00 3.2 g $2.50 per gram
Makeup Geek ~$6.50* 1.8 g ~$3.61* per gram
MAC $12.00 1.5 g $8.00 per gram
*Makeup Geek prices depend on the exchange rate (they are $5.99 USD).

As you can see, when you buy an Inglot eyeshadow, you are getting way more product than a Makeup Geek or MAC eyeshadow and paying less! However, you have to take into consideration a few things.

Review | Makeup Geek Eyeshadows: Peach Smoothie, Creme Brulee, Frappe & Chickadee

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows -- Creme Brulee, Peach Smoothie, Frappe, Chickadee

1. Peach Smoothie, 2. Creme Brulee, 3. Frappe, 4. Chickadee

Makeup Geek: Better Than Mac Eyeshadows?

There has been a lot of hype in the beauty community about Makeup Geek eyeshadows — some claim that they are better than Mac eyeshadows, which seems to be the golden standard when it comes to makeup. I wanted to see what all of the hype was about so I placed an order for four Makeup Geek eyeshadows — Peach Smoothie, Creme Brulee, Frappe and Chickadee. All of these shades are matte.

Makeup Geek Swatches: Peach Smoothie, Creme Brulee, Frappe, Chickadee

Peach Smoothie: This is a light peach colour that I like to use as a transition shade. Out of all of the Makeup Geek eyeshadows, this is the least pigmented and the most powdery shadow. It also isn’t as smooth as the other eyeshadows.
