My July Favourites
I decided to wrap up the end of the month with my favourites for the month of July. :) This month seemed to be a time where I gravitated towards the colour purple — I’m not sure why, but I’m happy to be exploring my colour palette rather than sticking to the neutrals!
If you are on the hunt for high quality eyeshadows at an affordable price, Wet N Wild will be your good friend.
My favourite colour in the palette and the one that I’ve been reaching for the most is the eyeshadow in the second row and second column. It’s a shimmery plum with gold flecks. It’s not the most pigmented eyeshadow in the palette, but a base will help, which goes into my next favourite…
The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are another great high quality eyeshadow product at an affordable price. This is a highly pigmented, shimmery purple eyeshadow pencil that works really well as a base for the Wet N Wild Petal Pusher eyeshadow palette.
Here’s a photo of how this eyeshadow looks on its own, underneath my favourite eyeshadow from the Petal Pusher palette and smudged out:
This NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil colour in particular is quite versatile because you can pack on the colour to get the most amount of pigmentation or if you want a more subtle look, you can smudge out the colour. Putting Purple Velvet underneath the Wet N Wild eyeshadow really makes the eyeshadow pop!
Another palette that I’ve been reaching for a lot this month is this limited edition palette by Tarte. This is a great palette if you are a traveller because it has almost everything you need to create a complete look — eyeshadows, a blush, bronzer and highlighter. It has your neutrals, but it also has some purple eyeshadows if you want to spice up your eye look.
The packaging of this palette is very unique, which I really love — the front has a metallic gold snake with a purple gem on its face. It’s unlike any other packaging that I own!
Shout outs to the Canadian company Bite Beauty for its amazing lip products! A colour that I’ve been reaching for a lot this month is Rhubarb, a plum rose shade. Someone with a lighter skin tone than me (I am an NC 35 in MAC foundations) may not find this to be an everyday colour, but I still think this colour would be a great addition to your collection.
Side note: the reason my lip pencil is so tiny is because I bought mine in a boxed set. Unfortunately, the boxed set doesn’t seem to be on Sephora’s website anymore, but the full-size pencil is available so you can still get your hands on the colour.
I don’t usually mention hair products on my blog, but I got this product in my ipsy bag this month and I really like it. I absolutely love the smell of this product and it does a great job of eliminating frizz. It’s formulated without parabens, animal ingredients and dyes, which are plus points in my books! But the main reason I like it is the smell… mmm, argan oil…
